I havnt been playing the game for a while and i decided to pick it back up again after realizing i had never beaten it. i had no problems previously with riposteing and backstabbing but when i loaded in i realized i couldn't do it anymore. at first i thought i was just out of practice but after exploring it for awhile i found no matrter where i stood i coulnt backstab and even when i stagger It's the PTP (peer to peer) PVP, he saw himself backstab you, however because your machine was most likely faster (or some othe rlatency issue) you did not see what he saw. To fix this never enter any PVP on any fromSoftware game, unless you have the terrible internet and can take advantage of it. Poise damage does not increase with Strength. It is a constant that is determined by your weapon. Different weapons deal different amounts of poise damage, which you can check in the inventory menu. Also, if you wield a weapon with both hands, it will deal more damage than if you wield it one-handed. If you're not big on backstab focused gameplay maybe try flip CB which focuses on whiff punish and out spacing your opponent. Before I started playing the dark souls remastered, I used to think this game was over-hyped and overpraised by the Dark Souls poise backstab veterans. Now I think about it I was so wrong. For now it looks like pvp backstabs are dead unless they have made them work in the full game. Backstabs in pve are just as easy to do as in Dks1 from what I have seen, but in the CNT they didn't work in pvp at all. If your opponent as much as moved slightly to the right, it was enough to whiff the backstab. The Silver Spear Knights can backstab you too! So sparkly! Not a backstab but a rather rare grabbing animation. The thief was the only Forest Hunter with the ability to backstab me. He set my ass on fire :c. That's all for now.
